The Unholy is a supernatural horror film in which a disgraced journalist, Gerald, covers the story of a young mute woman, Alice, who begins to speak and proselytise after what appears to be a miracle caused by the Virgin Mary.

Themes

Supernatural themes, including depictions of demonic possession, the burning of a woman in the 1800s, the supernatural damaging of religious icons and supernatural attacks perpetrated by the spirit of a woman possessed by the devil. Additionally, references to lies, fabrications and corruption by members of the media and the church.

Violence

Supernatural violence which is often tied to thematic content, including multiple supernatural attacks - often including fire - as well as the burning of a woman in the 1800s.

Sex

A verbal reference to satanic orgies.

Language

A single use of the word "f**k", as well as use of the words "shit", "ass", "crap", "bastard", "piss", and "damn"
