Star Ocean The Divine Force is an RPG set on a medieval planet in which the player seeks to prevent war between two factions. Players can control either a male or female protagonist, of which one sets out to find a way to his home planet and the other sets out to cure her friend. The two join together to prevent two kingdoms from warring and uncover a plot by alien forces to forcibly “integrate” the planet into their ranks. The game includes in-game purchases of cosmetic items but does not include any other online interactivity.

Themes

The player character engages in combat against enemies, including humans, humanoids and fantasy creatures on a medieval planet. Magic is sometimes used as the player seeks to prevent war between two factions.

Violence

Combat consists of magic spells and ranged attacks with weapons, including swords, bombs, chakrams, and guns. Strikes and attacks are indicated by flashes of bright coloured light and when characters are defeated, they sometimes turn black before quickly disappearing from the screen.

Sex

The game includes sexualised imagery. Some of the female characters wear short and low-cut pants as well as outfits which emphasise their breasts and cleavage. Some breast movement is viewed when female characters jump.

Language

The game includes use of the words "bastard", "asshole", "bitch", "crap", "damn" and "hell".
