Monos is a drama in which a group of teenage commandos working for a force known only as 'The Organization' keep watch over a hostage at a remote mountain before an ambush drives them into the jungle. The film is largely in Spanish with English subtitles.

Themes

The film follows a commando group that is holding a woman hostage in a remote location. As the group becomes fractured, the commandos turn on each other. A cow is accidently killed by gunfire and then butchered, there are references to the suicide of a commando and a group of young children witness the murder of their parents.

Violence

The film includes shootings that are accompanied by sprays of blood. A character is choked and drowned in a river.

Sex

The buttocks of a man are viewed as he stands in a motionless embrace with a woman whose legs are wrapped around his hips. The film also includes the use of the word “f**k” in a sexual context.

Language

The film includes use of the word “f**k” as well as other coarse language including “shit” “arsehole” and “whore”.

Drug use

Several commandos eat mushrooms – “shrooms” - and then appear to be drug affected.

Nudity

There are scenes featuring buttock nudity.
