Lisa Frankenstein is a U.S. romantic horror comedy film set in the 1980s in which a teenager, after experiencing a traumatic event, finds love through the accidental reanimation of a Victorian-era corpse. The film features bonus material including a feature-length commentary with director Zelda Williams and 5 short featurettes with interviews from the cast, production crew as well as behind-the-scenes footage. The featurettes are titled: 'An Electric Connection', 'Resurrecting the '80s', 'A Dark Comedy Duo', 'Deleted Scenes' and 'Gag Reel'.

Themes

The film contains horror themes featuring a Victorian-era character who is reanimated after his death. Several scenes feature post-action injury detail in which a character has body parts sewn back onto his body. Other thematic material consists of assisted suicide, sexual harassment, bereavement, murder and interpersonal relationships within a comedic context. The film features crude sexual humour in the form of a character's penis which is implicitly severed then reattached.

Violence

The film contains horror violence that is is discreetly depicted including the use of a hatchet to implicitly sever limbs and a character's penis with occasional blood spurts, blood pools and post-action injury detail. The film features a brief depiction of non-consensual touching.
