ICE MAIDEN is a feature length documentary tracking the astonishing journey of solo-adventurer Lisa Blair, as she embarks on her voyage to be the first woman to sail solo, non-stop and unassuisted around Antarctica.
Interviewing Lisa herself, her family members a well as assidstants and supporters, the film outlines her early career as a sailor and crew-member of opther roound-the-world competitions before focussing on herfirst attempt at circumnavigating Antarctica.
Using extensive on board footage the film shows the jpourney to be equal parts adventurous and treacherous. Lisa's goal is to break the currentr record for speed. Confidently conquering the most perilous parts of the journey, Lisa's confidence of success grows. this shatters when she realises the no amount of preparation can guiarentee her safe return. When unexpected and life-threatening weather conditions causes catastrophe, Lisa will need to dig into every ounce of courage, determination to return home.
