Dolphin Island is a family drama film which follows teenager, Annabel Coleridge, who lives with her fisherman grandfather on a Caribbean island paradise surrounded by an extended family of loving but quirky oddballs and her best friend, a dolphin named Mitzy. Everything changes when her rich maternal grandparents arrive with a lawyer to bring her back to New York.

Themes

The film contains themes relating to family conflict, which results in a custody battle between grandparents over their granddaughter. A boat with a teenager on board catches fire and explodes, knocking the teen unconscious and into the ocean. A quick and positive resolution occurs.
