Dear Evan Hansen is a film adaptation of a stage musical about a high school senior with a social-anxiety disorder. A copy of a private letter which Evan writes to himself falls into the hands of a troubled student, Connor, who subsequently commits suicide. Evan pretends that he and the boy had been close friends, leading to a spiral of deceit involving Connor’s family and the entire school community.
