De Humani Corporis Fabrica is an experimental French documentary, shot at several hospitals in and around France using a specialised cameras which can film within the human body, that documents multiple different surgical procedures as well as some of the administrative work performed by hospitals, without conventional introduction, contextualisation or voice-over. The film is in French with English subtitles.

Themes

The film contains graphic and prolonged depictions of actual surgical procedures including, but not limited to, a Caesarian, the draining of fluid from an engorged penis and the removal of a tumour near a man's enlarged prostate. These depictions are often not contextualised and feature minimal cuts or edits with frequent and extensive depictions of blood and injury detail.

Sex

The film includes an extended sequence featuring comedic and crude depictions of sexualised imagery, nudity and sexual acts within the context of a large-scale mural inside a Parisian club. Shots of this sexualised imagery are low-lit and up close, however, they are extended in duration.

Language

The film contains use of the words 'f**k', 'shit' and 'piss'.

Drug use

The film includes verbal references to being "on drugs".

Nudity

The film contains a prolonged depiction of an enlarged, engorged penis, as well as a sequence featuring frequent and prolonged depictions of exaggerated drawings of individuals of both genders with erect and, at times, ejaculating penises. The film also includes breast and buttock nudity.
