Caina is an Italian dystopian drama set in the near future in which a “body hunter”, Caina, collects the bodies of refugees that wash up on a stretch of coastline she is authorised to keep clean. The film is in Italian with English subtitles.

Themes

The film's narrative is an extended thematic exploration of xenophobia and intolerance and includes the use of racist language and multiple depictions of corpses.

Violence

The film includes the implied murders of immigrants after they are forced to disrobe at gunpoint as well as a depiction of a woman being dragged towards a cement mixer.

Sex

The film includes sexual references including a man asking a prostitute, "Where do you f**k them?" The film also includes a brief depiction of a man and woman, both clothed, implicitly engaged in sexual intercourse on a bed.
